San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyer Tylden Shaeffer to Present at NELA 2017 Annual Convention
SA defense attorney to take part in discussion panel at this year’s National Employment Lawyers Association Annual Convention in June to address challenges faced when clients access employer documents outside the formal discovery process.
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) May 02, 2017
Tylden Shaeffer, principal attorney at Tylden Shaeffer, Attorney at Law, P.C. will be a part of this year’s NELA 2017 panel lineup. The session Mr. Shaeffer is partaking in is called, “What To Do When Clients Access Employer Documents Outside The Formal Discovery Process” and will address both NELA members and their clients.
Discussed will be the challenges faced when clients access employer documents outside the formal discovery process. Documents can include materials generated by clients themselves or co-workers; materials called “confidential” by employers; materials that may be subject to the employer’s attorney-client privilege; and materials that the client wants to produce to a government agency. In a quote, Mr. Shaeffer noted, “Clients can be at risk for sanctions and potential civil and even criminal liability; as their lawyers, we’re subject to several conflicting obligations and our own risks.”
This panel explores the risks and benefits of accessing employer documents from the contrasting perspectives of a lawyer representing whistleblowers; a criminal defense lawyer; and a longtime member of NELA’s Ethics & Sanctions Committee.
The panel will take place on Friday, June 23 from 2:00–3:15 p.m. at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter.
